Back soreness may be related to muscle strain, poor posture, osteoporosis, spinal degeneration, reflex pain from visceral diseases and other factors. Working at a desk for long periods of time or exercising excessively may cause muscle tension, and visceral problems such as cholecystitis may also cause referred pain.
1. Muscle strain
Maintaining fixed postures or repetitive movements for a long time will cause the back muscles to continue to contract, and lactic acid accumulation will cause soreness. Commonly seen in office workers or manual workers, it manifests as local tenderness and limited activity. Symptoms can be relieved through hot compresses and massage. It is necessary to avoid sitting for long periods of time and strengthen core muscle exercises.
2. Bad posture
Postures such as hunched back and scoliosis will cause uneven stress on muscles and ligaments, which may cause chronic back soreness in the long term. Using an ergonomic chair, getting up and moving for 5 minutes every hour, and doing symmetrical exercises such as swimming can effectively correct postural pain.
3.Osteoporosis
In middle-aged and elderly people, the weight-bearing capacity of the vertebral body is reduced due to calcium loss, and diffuse back soreness and shortening of height may occur. Bone density examination can confirm the diagnosis. Calcium and vitamin D need to be supplemented. In severe cases, anti-bone resorption drugs such as alendronate sodium tablets need to be used as directed by the doctor.
4. Spinal degeneration
Intervertebral disc herniation or osteoarthritis can irritate nerve roots and cause radioactive acid swelling, often accompanied by numbness in the lower limbs. MRI examination can clarify the extent of the disease. Mild cases can be relieved by traction treatment, while severe cases may require transforaminal surgical intervention.
5. Reflex pain in visceral diseases
Celiac diseases such as cholecystitis and pancreatitis can cause right-side back pain through nerve reflexes, and coronary heart disease may also manifest as swelling in the shoulder and back area. This type of pain is usually related to diet and posture, and the primary disease needs to be diagnosed through ultrasound or electrocardiogram.
It is recommended to maintain a regular schedule and exercise moderately, and choose a mattress with moderate firmness when sleeping. During an acute attack, flurbiprofen gel patch can be used topically to relieve symptoms. If it is accompanied by fever, weight loss, or waking up with pain at night, you need to seek medical treatment in time. Daily low-impact exercises such as cat stretching and swimming can be performed to enhance back muscle endurance and avoid sudden twisting or weight-bearing movements. Pay attention to supplementing high-quality protein and vitamin D in your diet, and control high-fat diet to prevent gallbladder discomfort.
