Maintaining sufficient yang energy can be achieved through regular work and rest, moderate exercise, dietary conditioning, emotional management and traditional Chinese medicine conditioning. Insufficient yang energy may be related to factors such as staying up late, sitting for long periods of time, eating raw or cold foods, and emotional depression. It usually manifests as symptoms such as chills, fatigue, and decreased immunity.
1. Regular work and rest
Going to bed before 11 o'clock at night helps to maintain Yang Qi, and Zishi is a key period for the growth of Yang Qi. You can spend more time in the sun every day, choose the mild sunshine period between 9-10 am or 4-5 pm, for 15-30 minutes each time.
3. Diet conditioning
Eat mutton, leeks, longan and other warming foods in moderation, and drink them with boiled water of ginger and red dates. Avoid excessive intake of raw and cold fruits and iced drinks. In winter, you can take angelica, ginger and mutton soup as directed by your doctor. In summer, you can soak American ginseng in water to replenish qi and promote fluid production.
4. Emotional management
Long-term anxiety and depression will deplete Yang Qi. You can relieve stress through meditation and deep breathing. Develop calming hobbies such as painting, calligraphy, and gardening to avoid continuous emotional agitation. Maintain social activities but not overexert yourself, and maintain a peaceful and happy state of mind.
5. Traditional Chinese Medicine conditioning
Moxibustion on acupuncture points such as Guanyuan and Zusanli can warm and replenish yang energy and must be performed by a professional physician. People with severe yang deficiency can take Chinese patent medicines such as Jingui Shenqi Pills and Yougui Pills as directed by the doctor. Conduct regular TCM constitution identification to avoid overusing warming and tonic drugs that may lead to internal heat.
Pay attention to keeping warm and sheltered from wind every day, especially protecting the waist, abdomen, ankles and other parts. Develop the habit of soaking your feet in hot water. You can add moxa leaves or ginger to the water to enhance the effect. Avoid being in a damp and cold environment for a long time, and keep the living space ventilated and dry. If obvious symptoms of yang deficiency such as persistent chills and diarrhea occur, it is recommended to seek medical treatment in time for systemic conditioning.
