Testicular swelling and pain are often accompanied by a sinking feeling. Testicular swelling and pain may be caused by orchitis, epididymitis, varicocele, testicular torsion or trauma. It is recommended that patients seek medical treatment in time for a clear diagnosis.
Orchitis or epididymitis is a common cause of testicular swelling and pain with a sinking feeling. Inflammatory stimulation can lead to local congestion and edema, pulling on the spermatic cord structure to produce a swelling sensation, which may be accompanied by symptoms such as fever and painful urination. The diagnosis needs to be confirmed through blood routine and ultrasound examination. Treatment is mainly antibiotics such as cefixime dispersible tablets and levofloxacin tablets, combined with bed rest and scrotal elevation.
Varicocele can cause a persistent feeling of swelling, which is aggravated after standing for a long time or being tired. Due to the obstruction of venous return, the blood vessels in the scrotum are tortuously dilated, and earthworm-like masses can be seen on physical examination. Ultrasound examination can determine the degree of varicose veins. Mild cases can be relieved by wearing tight underwear, while severe cases require laparoscopic high spermatic vein ligation.
Testicular torsion is an emergency, with sudden severe pain accompanied by an obvious falling sensation, the affected testicle is elevated, and Doppler ultrasound shows that the blood flow signal is weakened or disappears. Surgical reduction within 6 hours of onset of disease can avoid testicular necrosis, and delayed treatment may lead to orchiectomy. Testicular injuries caused by trauma can also cause hematoma and falling pain, and ultrasound is required to rule out testicular rupture.
You should avoid strenuous exercise or perineal impact in daily life, and choose breathable cotton underwear to reduce local compression. Do not use hot compresses when there is persistent pain or sudden severe pain. Lie down and seek medical advice immediately. Pay attention to supplementing vitamin C and zinc in the diet, limit the intake of spicy foods, and maintain a regular work and rest schedule to help the health of the reproductive system.
