In fact, as long as it is performed in a regular medical institution by qualified personnel, neither method will cause additional harm to the body. There is no saying that one is "inherently bad for the body". Nine out of ten related injuries seen in clinical practice are caused by informal operations.
I met a 28-year-old programmer when I was following up in the acupuncture department. His neck was stiff for half a month. He felt that it would be troublesome to go to the hospital. So he went to a massage parlor at the entrance of the community after get off work. The master said that he had a misaligned cervical vertebra and needed bone correction. He did it twice without any evaluation. That night, he felt so dizzy that he couldn't stand. His right hand was also numb. When he came to take an X-ray, he found out that it was atlantoaxial joint subluxation. It took him half a month to recover. He was still talking about it when he came, saying that he had always thought that deep acupuncture would damage the internal organs, but he didn't expect bone setting to be so dangerous. In fact, the problem with the project was that the massage parlor's master didn't even have basic knowledge of anatomy.
In fact, there have always been different trends in the industry. Many experienced doctors who practice acupuncture feel that the error tolerance rate of bone setting is lower. After all, there are dense nerves and blood vessels around the spine. If the angle and intensity of force are not correct, joints or soft tissues may be injured, and in severe cases, it may even affect the intracranial blood supply.; However, doctors engaged in orthopedic rehabilitation also have different opinions. They say that if the acupuncturist is not familiar with the anatomical structure under the acupuncture points, there are many cases of pneumothorax caused by piercing the apex of the lungs, and irreversible damage caused by piercing superficial nerves. On the contrary, imaging assessments are done before formal bone setting, and the force is accurate, so the risk is actually lower.
Last week, an aunt came to the clinic to deal with a hematoma on her hand. She said that she watched a short video to learn about health care and followed the tutorial to prick the Hegu point to relieve pain. It was fine without disinfection. The needle was inserted at an angle and hit a small blood vessel, which swelled like a small steamed bun. It took three days of pain before she remembered to come to the hospital. This can't be blamed on acupuncture, right?
To put it bluntly, the risk logic of the two is actually very similar. Just like if you ask whether driving a car or driving an SUV is more likely to cause an accident, both are safe if you follow the rules. Driving without a license or not paying attention to the road conditions is prone to accidents regardless of driving. If you really need to do it, don't believe in those wild institutions that claim to "can cure lumbar protrusion with one reduction" or "can cure all diseases with one injection". First confirm that the other party has the qualifications to practice medicine, and clearly explain your blood coagulation problems and old spinal injuries in advance. You can basically avoid more than 90% of the risks, and you don't have to worry about which one is more "hurtful".
