Balanced diet in simple sentences

Many people feel that this word sounds too much like an official slogan and is difficult to coin. In fact, it is because they have placed unnecessary restrictions on themselves. Last week, I helped my niece, who is in third grade, with her Chinese homework. She spent twenty minutes scratching her head on this word, saying that she always felt that it would be right to write something like "a balanced diet can help improve the physical fitness of the whole nation". Only when she submitted it to the teacher would she give her a high score. As a result, the final sentence she wrote was so dry that even she herself found it awkward to read it.

In fact, people with different identities should create different sentences. How can there be any unified template? A friend who often goes to the gym posted on WeChat: "During this period, I ate a balanced diet and did aerobics three times a week, and my body fat dropped by 2%. I can finally fit into the small sling I bought last year." It is real and picturesque. ； I went to the nutrition department for a recurrence of my gastritis a while ago. The first order the doctor gave me was to eat a balanced diet. The sentence I complained to the patients that day was "I followed the doctor's advice to eat a balanced diet for half a month, and I didn't even have the acid reflux that had bothered me for more than half a year." It was completely true, and no one said this sentence was wrong.

Of course, there are different opinions. Many Chinese teachers believe that sentence construction should be based on the occasion. If it is a formal writing question, you can indeed prefer written expression. For example, when writing a composition on health topics, "A balanced diet is the most cost-effective way to maintain health. Compared with health products that often cost thousands of dollars, eating well is the safest health investment for ordinary people." It is consistent with the context and will not appear blunt. There are also community publicity staff who prefer to use short sentences such as "a balanced diet and regular work and rest are the first steps to stay away from chronic diseases", which are easy to remember and meet the needs of publicity.

I have been doing health science popularization for more than two years. When I first wrote articles, I always used preaching sentences such as "You must have a balanced diet and a regular schedule." Readers always commented that it looked like a school bulletin board. Later, I changed it to life-oriented expressions, such as "If you want to lose weight, you don't need to eat boiled vegetables. Eat a balanced diet and walk for ten minutes a day, and you will lose weight without realizing it." On the contrary, the number of interactions increased several times.

To put it bluntly, sentences are meant to express true thoughts. There is no need to have so many restrictions. Even if you just say "My mother talks to me about a balanced diet every day", it is a fully qualified sentence and is not that complicated in the first place.
