The effect of massaging thenar acupoint
Definition of acupoint: Ji, margin. Therefore, the point is located on the edge of the abductor pollicis brevis muscle and the palmar muscle of the thumb. The muscles here are swollen and shaped like the belly of a fish, and the red and white flesh meet, hence the name.
Simple location: In the depression behind this section of the thumb (the first metacarpophalangeal joint), approximately on the radial side of the midpoint of the first metacarpal bone, at the red-white flesh border. Or take the side palm, hold it slightly, and bend the wrist joint slightly downward, which is at the middle point of the first metacarpal bone at the red and white flesh.
Anatomical location: When the abductor pollicis brevis and the opponent palmar muscle of the thumb are located; the blood vessel is the reflux branch of the thumb vein; it is covered with mixed branches of the lateral cutaneous nerve of the forearm and the superficial branch of the radial nerve.
Functional treatment: Since many acupuncture points have nerve distribution, it is not suitable to perform acupuncture on your own.
Function: Clear lung qi, clear away heat and soothe the throat. This point is the Ying point of the lung meridian, and the attribute of the five elements is fire. "Ying governs body heat", so this point has the effect of clearing the lungs, purging fire, and clearing away lung qi. It can treat coughing, asthma, chest tightness and chest pain caused by wind-heat invading the lungs, or phlegm-heat blocking the lungs, and lack of lung purification; hemoptysis caused by burning of the collaterals due to lung heat; swelling and pain in the throat caused by heat stagnation; stagnation due to heat evil, and aphonia due to lack of lung energy. Therefore, the acupuncture point is located on the palm of the hand and has the effect of distant treatment along the meridians, dredging the meridians and unblocking collaterals, and treating elbow and arm spasm pain; it also has the effect of proximal treatment, treating finger spasm pain, numbness and paralysis of the fingers.
